More loose glenoid components.

Today found us in the OR with two more patients with grossly loose glenoid components. Their x-rays are shown below.



In each case we withheld antibiotics until five or more specimens for culture were harvested. 
In each case the glenoid vault defect was huge.
In each case we debrided the chronic inflammatory tissue, smoothed the residual glenoid bone, vigorously cleaned the shoulder and balanced the soft tissues with a new humeral head component.
In each case we will maintain the patient on antibiotics at least until the cultures are finalized at 3 weeks.
