Rotator Cuff
The JSES published: Rotator cuff tears treated with a modified deltoid flap repair technique. This is a level IV study that presents the postoperative Constant Scores but without similar data before surgery. The deltoid flap failed in 14%, even though the surgeon was very experienced in this technique.
While this is a method for managing large cuff tears that is favored by some, we are not so inclined because of the compromise of the deltoid, risking added shoulder weakness, and the compromise of the coracoacriomial arch, risking anterosuperior escape.
