Ream and run, return to sport: 11 year followup

Today we received followup on an active 76 year old who competes at the international level in Badminton. He is currently on his way to the World Masters.

Eleven years ago he had a right shoulder ream and run arthroplasty for osteoarthritis.

At 11 years after surgery he had excellent function, continued to play badminton at the highest levels. His x-rays are shown below. Note the well-fixed impaction autografted and canal-sparing humeral stem.

An the humeral head prosthesis centered on a glenoid with dense subsurface bone.

One year ago, he presented with pain and stiffness in his left shoulder and these x-rays.

He had a ream on run on that side as well with these post operative x-rays.

At one year after his second side surgery, he sent this email and the video below, "Just a quick update on my shoulder.  It is SO good.  I can't thank you and your team enough for the great work you have done for me and many others in taking away unnecessary pain and suffering.  Here is a picture of how the shoulder is looking and, of course, some weightlifting. I'm heading to Japan next May to compete in the World's Masters in Badminton."
