Ben Roethlisberger injury update: Steelers QB leaves after hit to shoulder. AOL

We are all saddened by injury. Football has surely seen more than its share this last few weeks.
Last night the Steelers quarterback was sacked, landing on his right (throwing) arm and had to leave the game. We have no knowledge of his diagnosis, but a study of the video clip provided by AOL does reveal a bit about the mechanism of injury. Apparently he first landed on his elbow

and then on his shoulder

While we could speculate on the injuries that might result from such a mechanism, it is not appropriate to do so. We eagerly await the diagnosis of the team physicians and hope to see this great quarterback on the field again soon.
