Recalling the 4 Ps that we've discussed before (the problem, the patient, the procedure, and the physician performing the procedure), this is a system for estimating the effects on morbidity and mortality after surgery based in the second and third "P"s.

It is very insightful to see how the estimated risks change when the overall health is compromised.
