Ream and run in 67 year old woman - one year followup.

It seems that there is increasing interest among active women in considering the ream and run arthroplasty. One year ago we met a 67 year old woman with arthritis of her right shoulder. Preoperatively she answered 'yes' to only 3 of the 12  Simple Shoulder Test questions* and had these films.

The axillary "truth" view shows posterior decentering and a posterior glenoid cyst.

At one year after her ream and run surgery, she answered 'yes' to all 12 of the SST questions and had these x-rays.

Note the use of an anteriorly eccentric humeral head to re-center the humeral head in the glenoid.
