Failed reverse total shoulder managed with hemiarthroplasty

We've been impressed with the utility of a hemiarthroplasty to salvage a failed reverse.

A colleague recently sent the post-op x-ray of a lady with rheumatoid arthritis for whom he used a  hemiarthroplasty to salvage a shoulder that had a reverse total shoulder that failed because of baseplate loosening. Of note is the fact that at the time of revision she had a failed subscapularis as well.

Comment: Cases such as this make us wonder how this patient might have fared with a primary hemiarthroplasty.
