Shoulder arthritis article from the November issue of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery

The November issue of the JBJS has an article on patient expectations after shoulder joint replacement. The authors found that over 80% of patients expected relief of pain at night, relief of pain during the day, and improvement in the range of motion with younger patients having greater expectations. While these results are not surprising, it is of interest that the simple shoulder test specifically asks patients about these functions, so that it appears to measure what is important to patients regarding the function of their shoulders.
